The “Ladies of Baxter” at Garden Oaks church of Christ in Houston, Texas have spent many years raising money and helping the students at Baxter Institute.  In the past, Garden Oaks worked closely with Spring Woodlands church of Christ (now called “Grace Crossing church of Christ”), also in Houston.  Now they work independently, consisting of women involved in the Women’s Ministry and also Missions.  Anna Mary Thomas is President of Damas de Baxter-Garden Oaks and works to educate members on the work going on in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

This group has a member they refer to as their “flying angel”.  Her name is Mable Charles and she is a flight attendant with Continental Airlines.  Mable has often over the years brought supplies, etc. to Baxter and the Clinic and she truly has been our “flying angel”.
