Greetings!
Mtn. View of Campus

This is a new era for the Association Amicus. We are beginning with this first edition of our Email Newsletter. We are trying to reach as many of those interested in our ministry as possible, so we ask that you forward this to as many as you think might be interested. I hope you are excited about this new opportunity for us to share this major change for us!

Beautiful Flower
After a successful graduation of the class of 2005, we are excited to welcome the incoming class of 2009. There are 15 men and 4 wives in the first year class. Their names and pictures will be posted on the website soon. Welcome to all and let's get to work spreading the Gospel of Christ.

These 19 new students will be welcomed back by the second and third year students, who have enjoyed their two months of vacation. There are 23 in the second year class and 19 in the third year.

Let's not forget the fourth year students, even though they are not around. These 12 students are already busy in the 6-month Mission Apprenticeship Program and are in Chile, Venezuela, Nicaragua and Honduras. We are excited for this time of evangelism and learning about the practical ministry each will enter after their graduation on December 2.

JMA Clinic
This is a transitional year for the JMA Clinic and the staff are excited that there will be many changes and, hopefully, some improvements. Dr. Cubas continues to work and is seeing anywhere from 25 to 45 patients per day. We will have some additional information about the patient population in the next edition of the newsletter, because there are some very special needs.

Dr. David Ayes has joined our staff as the Dentist. He worked at the clinic about 10 years ago and is happy to be back with us. He seems to be very excited about the possibilities of providing more services to our patients. There are also two other dentists who are serving their year of Social Service after graduation from Dental School.

The Nutrition Program is being administered by Javier Tapia and he is doing an excellent job. We have 56 families enrolled and now have support for about half of these (hint, hint). For $25 per month, these malnourished children get food, vitamins and medical/dental care and their mothers get vocational training in sewing and hair-cutting. We hope to bring back the cooking classes and possibly add some programs for men and women. We want to add some additional counseling and testing for the effects of malnourishment on physical and mental development.

March 18, 2006 at the Maple Hill Church of Christ is the Spring Dinner for Las Damas de Baxter (The Women of Baxter). All are invited to this "free" dinner to raise money for the Kate Howard Scholarship Fund. For more information, please email Annabelle Lawrence at annabellelawrence@juno.com.

November 30-December 4, 2006 are the dates for the 2006 Graduation Trip for the Baxter Institute. We have a great group of men and women who will complete their training and we want to honor them and dedicate them to the work that the Lord will give them. Plan to be there in Tegucigalpa. Start saving your money now!

May 12-14, 2006 is the Baxter Seminar on campus.

September 14-17, 2006 is the International Youth Meeting on campus. This is entirely planned and executed by our Baxter students and there are about 600 young people who attend from many surrounding countries and Honduras.

Thank you for opening and hopefully reading this Newsletter. Please take the time to forward to others who you know are interested in the work of Baxter or the JMA Clinic. May God bless you for your love for the lost in the Spanish-speaking world.

Sincerely,

Steven White
