| Dear Jeanne,
Summer will be over soon and the 23 groups and brigades working with Baxter Institute and JMA Clinic (directly or indirectly) will be only memories.
We cannot give enough praise or thanks to the people, young and old, who have worked tirelessly on campus, at the clinic, out in the neighborhoods and in outlying communities and churches.
Look for information about some of the works that were done by groups this spring and summer in the next newsletter.
If you or anyone in your congregation is interested in organizing a mission team for the year 2009, let us know and we will help you in any way we can. |

| "How are Things Going?"
by Steve White |
|
Well, I am glad you asked! Things are going very well. As you know, the airport in Tegucigalpa was closed to large planes for about 47 days and it will be August 1 before American Airlines and Continental get back to their regular schedules...
At Baxter

Our PAM students are back... The first day back in our devotional, they had a slideshow of Jorge Quiroz, one of their classmates who was killed in a bus accident in Peru in January. It was very touching for everyone.
We have a new teacher! Actually, he isn't new, but he is back and we could not be happier. Miguel Aguilar has re-joined our staff after a 5 year absence...

At the Clinic
We also have a new employee at the JMA Clinic. Josiane Oliveros, wife of Alexandre who teaches at Baxter was just hired as a social worker in the Nutrition Program in the clinic.

There are so many things to be thankful for. Libby Isenhower has done a great job helping in the clinic as a volunteer intern. Rachel Brown was back for three weeks working on campus. Beverly Malone has been here for 5 weeks working in the clinic as well as Brent Skiver, who just finished his first year at VCOM! Thanks to all of the volunteers!
Dr. David Ayes has worked for us for two and a half years, first as the dentist in the Dental Clinic and for the last 11 months as the supervisor of the Clinic.
Dr. Xiomara Erazo has been our doctor in the clinic for 11 months and she is the new supervisor.

Luis Garcia is Honored |
|
|
Thursday, July 3, 2008, students, faculty and staff honored our brother, Luis García Urroz, during a special devotional held in the cafeteria on Baxter's campus. Bro. Luis retired on June 30, 2008, and returned on July 15 to Nicaragua to work with his son, Dr. Erick Garcia, in his orphanage, clinic and Bible Institute.
Steve White, president of Association Amicus, presented Bro. Luis a plaque honoring his service to Baxter, the church and the lost of the world.

We have been blessed to have him on our faculty and in our lives!

God Bless You!

| "Things Are Tough All Over"
by Steve White |
|
|
How many times have you heard that? Well, things are certainly tough all over. The price of oil has affected everyone in the whole world. Was it a surprise that China and India are growing and the people there are using more energy? Why did this "sneak up" on us like it did? How long have we been talking about alternative energy sources, such as geothermal, wind, solar, etc. It seems someone in our global economy has chosen poorly by picking ethanol as the solution to the energy crisis. The unintended consequence of this choice is even higher prices for food. Much of the world depends upon corn as a very primary source of nutrition and using 20% of the world crop for fuel creation does not seem to be a great way to solve the problem.

| Noé Pérez Returns to Work in Forestry |
|

Noé has returned to his field of training and is working in El Paraiso, Honduras managing a watershed in a governmental program.
We are grateful for the good work that our brother, Noé has done for Baxter over the years. We ask God's blessings on him in his new work.
He and his family continue to live in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and his wife, Gloria, continues to teach at Baxter. |
| Mario Lara Update |
|
|

Many of you know our brother, Mario Lara, who had been ill for quite a while and needed a kidney transplant. His surgery was successful and the following email is from the husband of Rubia, Mario's sister, who gave her brother a kidney recently.
"Mario is great, he is healing very fast the doctor is surprised, Rubia went to the doctor last week and he took the staples out, but every thing is perfect for both of them, I wanted to send a short video but it wasn't possible.
Thanks for been concerned about them, if there is any need I will let you know. God bless you."
