Thanksgiving will be here soon! Although it is not a holiday celebrated by Hondurans, Steve and I will have a turkey with all the trimmings, as we celebrate with many friends from the U.S. in our apartment.
We are very thankful for the love and support our friends and family have given to us throughout our lives. And we are especially grateful for that love and support during the past almost 3 1/2 years that we have been here in Tegucigalpa, working with Association Amicus.
Let's not forget to be THANKFUL every day...not just on "Thanksgiving Day".
Jeanne White
We at Baxter Institute and JMA Clinic thank God for your prayers and support. We welcome your comments and suggestions for our work and for this newsletter.
God bless you all! |

"Day of the Child" Celebrated
On September 8, 2007, the children of Baxter students celebrated "Día del Niño" or "Day of the Child", along with their parents. They played games, had a couple of piñatas and several swimming pools, as you can see in the photos. Mommies and daddies also gave their children gifts.

Interim Supervisor Named
Dr. David Ayes, our Clinic dentist, has been named Interim Supervisor of JMA Clinic. Dr. Ayes has very good organizational skills and is doing a great job.
Clinic Welcomes New Doctor
Dr. Xiomara Erazo joined the staff of JMA Clinic in August of this year. She is originally from San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Dr. Erazo received her degree from the National University here in Tegucigalpa. We are so thankful for the quality of work Dr. Erazo is doing and also for her great ideas for the Clinic. She will be working closely with the VCOM students.
Carlos Abraham Carbajal Took a New Job
in August with a local bank, Credomatic, as Project Manager. We are very happy for him as this is his area of study at the university. We appreciate all the good work that Carlos did while serving as Supervisor of the JMA Clinic and we wish him all the best in his new job at the bank and also with his upcoming wedding in December.
New VCOM Students Arrived
Edward Magalhaes and Michael Baze began their one-month rotation at JMA Clinic on October 29th. Actually, they had their first patient the weekend before when one of our Baxter student's children became ill. We appreciate the service these students provide and are looking forward to getting to know them better. Michael's wife, Noriko, is here with him, as well. |
| "Transformation" by Steve White |
|
"So here, as elsewhere in his lovely Discourse on the Hillside (Sermon on the Mount), we need to put the idea of laws entirely out of our minds. Jesus is working, as already indicated, at a much deeper level of the source of actions, good and bad. He is taking us deeper into the kind of beings we are, the kind of love God has for us, and the kind of love that, as we share it, bring us into harmony with his life. No one can be 'right' in the kingdom sense who is not transformed at this level." (The Divine Conspiracy, by Dallas Willard, page 155, original emphasis)

"...we have a God who has promised that life will not be easy. He has promised that there will be trials and suffering. But He has also promised that He would be with us, even to the end of the world..."
